Survey experience * July 14-30 2003: R/V Professor Logachev: Leg 1 of the UNESCO TTR13-cruise from Copenhagen to Tromso on the Research Vessel Professor Logachev. Descriptions were made of sediment cores and side scan data of the Vøring Plateau, the Traenadjupet Slide, Lofoten Basin floor, Andøya Slide and Andøya Canyon with N. Kenyon, M. Ivanov and J.S. Laberg. * October 16-31 2004: R/V Kommander Jack: Leg 2 of the SEA6 project in the Irish Sea on Research Vessel Kommander Jack to help collect sediment samples, water samples and video imagery. * May 12-23 2005: R/V Celtic Explorer: Leg within Irish National Seabed Survey as part of a student placement granted by the Marine Institute of Ireland. Initiation to multibeam echosounder data collection and processing was given by a team of experts, with geological interpretations of subbuttom profiling data. * June 14-27 2005: R/V Celtic Voyager: HabMap survey leg1: multibeam echosounder data processing using CARIS HIPS software package. * August 9-14 2005: R/V Celtic Voyager: JNCC/MESH MBES survey: multibeam echosounder data processing using CARIS HIPS software package. * September 1-13 2005: R/V Celtic Voyager: IMAGIN MBES survey leg2: multibeam echosounder data processing using CARIS HIPS software package. * December 14-17 2005: ILV Granuaile: IMAGIN vibrocore sampling cruise. Processing vibrocores on deck. * September 9-13 2006: R/V Celtic Voyager: Survey “Training and Research in the Eastern Irish Sea (TRES)”. “Bright Sparks” competition by the Marine Institute of Ireland. Five days of ship time and expenses won after submitting a research proposal describing the design, planning and execution of a scientific survey in detail. Proposers: Katrien Van Landeghem & Fionnuala McBreen with Rory O’Donnell, Niamh Walsh, Niamh O’Sullivan, Cora Mckenna, Sandrine Laurand, Jenny Whilde and Andy Wheeler. On board: multibeam echosounder data processing using CARIS HIPS software package, boomer seismic data, video imagery and sediment description. |
